Thread: Ticked off!

  1. Ticked off!

I am on day 10.......i started years ago but when I went away to school; there wasn't an SS place where I lived so I fell off the wagon. After a recent move and unpacking, I found my SS stuff and am determined to follow through this time and get to goal....I am also determined to lose all this baby weight too. My starting weight is 235...and as I mentioned before, I am on day 10. Last week my husband and I got a wii fit plus with the balance board from a friend.....the game likes you to do a body test daily and it weighs you too....hence why I'm mad. I read the forums and see everyone having terrific losses their first week...and as of today I'm only down 1.5 kg. I feel discouraged. there is no SS office near me, nor can I afford to pay again. Yes there is some weightloss, but I feel like I am doing something wrong why I am not having an 8 to 12 pound loss in the first week. I know everybody is different. I am just trying to problem solve. The wii fit freaks me out because it keeps showing an up and down pattern with my weight over the past 10 days. I haven't cheated with my eating and I have been drinking all my water. I am not hungry at all, which is good because I am a person who is usually ALWAYS hungry.....I have been going for walks since the weather has been so nice....I don't know...please tell me that it gets better. I am . Butwilling to continue to try hard, but it's hard. When I did WW years ago I lost 8 pounds the first week and had consistent losses until I dropped 89 pounds. Then I went through a bad spell and gained it all back over 3 years. This time around I tired to do WW but couldn't stay motivated enough to get past 2 days. With SS I know I mean business because me getting to 10 days is such a huge deal with how busy my life is......its just the effort not registering on the scale makes me feel like derailing the whole effort

  2. Re: Ticked off!

Great job on making it to day 10. Keep on going. I am realizing that things dont happen over night, and not always in one week. Results will happen. You just need to stick with it. I am the type who does two days (exercise) feel great, get discouraged and quit. Why doesn't it happen over night? That's not reality.

Try drinking even more water. I dont think 2 litres is enough for everyone. Larger people need more. People who work out need more. I am crazed by the scale as well. I weigh myself pleny of times a day. Some days I can retain up to 10 lbs of water and food. But I end up evening out. For example, I usually weigh 154. Yesterday I was holding water, ate a lot, and weighed 161 at he end of the day. This morning after peeing, I am down to 156. Weird. It is stressful.

Give yourself a break and stop stressing. When stressed we retain. If your working out, and have sore muscles, know that your muscles are retaining water so that they can recover and heal.

Keep at it, do not get discouraged. Doing what you are doing will create reults. It is scientific!!!!!!!!

Keep an honest food diary. Maybe you are doing something wrong and don't realize it. Post a sample day of your diet and maybe we can notice if something is off.

Try for 3 litres of water a day.

Your loss was not horrible at all. It was a loss. I posted a poen called one pound. I will try to find it and post it here for you!

    One Pound
    Only One Pound

Hello! Do you know me? If you don't, you should. I'm a pound of fat. And I am the happiest pound of fat that you would ever want to meet.

Want to know why? It's because no one ever wants to lose me; I'm ONLY ONE POUND, just a pound!

Everyone wants to lose three pounds, five pounds, or fifteen pounds, but never only one.

So I just stick around and happily keep you fat. Then I add to myself, ever so slyly, so that you never seem to notice it. That is until I've grown to ten, twenty, thirty or even more pounds in weight.

Yes, it's fun being ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT, left to do as I please.

So, when you weigh in, keep right on saying, "Oh, I only lost one pound." (As if that were such a terrible thing) For you see, if you do this, you'll encourage others to keep me around because they'll think I'm not worth losing.

And, I love being around you ? your arms, your legs, your chin, your hips and every part of you.

Happy Days!!! After all, I'm ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT!!!

I sooooooooooooooo agree with the above posts. I love the " I'm only 1 lb " story. You mention you have a child, find the childrens story of the tortoise and the hare, your child will love to have you read it to him or her and it will be a reminder that faster is not always the best road to success. Good luck on your journey. I will be watching for your posts and will help in any way I can.......Stay positive, you are worth the effort.

Thanks everyone! I guess starting any diet can be really frustrating when you aren't getting the results you want.
The last 10 days, I've been pretty consistant with eating the same things...call me crazy but when I am so busy it's just easy to know what you're eating even if it is repetitive. I also distribute my daily seeds amongst 3 meals because I'm not a fan of them and can't eat them all al once.
Breakfast: Spinach and a hard boiled egg and my seeds....usually all just mixed up together and a cup of vanilla tea and an apple
Lunch: a green salad with one of those single serving cans of tuna, my seeds all mixed in and an apple.
Dinner: steamed broccoli or cauliflower or cabbage and either a piece of salmon or a chicken breast - varies depending on what I feel like

I drink my 2L of water because I am not a fan of water. I gave up a massive coffee addiction at the same time as starting my diet. Now that I think of it, I think I sabotaged myself by having milk in my tea between meals.....grrrrrr....so I am gonna cut that out cold turkey. *sigh*. I'll try increasing the water to 3L...ick. I thought I was doing so well...lol. I will have to try harder and have a better day tomorrow.

I have been so exhausted though. I have been going for walks and stuff...but with chasing my 19 month old around and getting crappy sleep at night with his teething and studying for an exam I feel so tired I can barely think. I'm also no longer retaining anything I'm studying, despite the breaks I am taking away from school work...man oh man do I despise University right now....at least I'll have my Bachelor's of Nursing before the year is out so if I can just get through the next 6 months and improve my health so that my bp isn't through the roof I will be soooo incredibly proud of myself. *sigh*

    Re: Ticked off!

I also had a major caffiene addiction, I would drink at least 3 cups of coffee and 2 large sugar free RedBulls LOL So now I stick with water and black coffee in between meals, my consultants have been telling me that it is of the utmost importance to have NOTHING in the coffee as it will make your body produce insulin, thus interfering with the 5 hour cycle of the hormones. I HATED black coffee for the first 2 and a half weeks, and I would litterally take a sip, cringe, and say outloud "MMMMMMM black coffee" in some vain attempt to trick my brain into liking it ! The girls at work think I am crazy, but I am starting to love my stupid black coffee I also just carry a 1L water jug with me everywhere and I know I have to get through it at least twice (preferrably 3 times) per day. Seems to help me remember anyways!

Well, I'm not having as great results as some people, but every pound counts right?

    Week 1: -1.5 kgs
    Week 2: - 1.5 kgs

I think I am losing inches too because some of my clothes are feeling a lot looser....my work uniform sweater feels like it getting too big for me to wear....I really hope it's not my imagination working over time......I jusrt sooo badly want to lose weight so I can stop feeling so self conscious. I am tired of feeling like I am being judged by my weight.

I was mistaken before...wii fit had my start weight at 234. I'm 5 ft 9 and now my current weight is 227....at least I am finally out of the 230's

    Re: Ticked off!

I was really in a harsh depression also, I was starting to get a social anxiety because I felt like everyone was looking at me like I was fat and ugly. It was really starting to effect my relationship with my boyfriend, and everyone else in my life. I also feel very lucky to be able to do this program, I feel like I am reclaiming my life finally! I am so happy that we all have this forum to support eachother and share our stories, it is very helpfull.

Mikaila, 7 lbs is an awesome amount of weight to have lost in 2 weeks!! Good for you I have been thinking of buying the Wii fit... is it worth the cost of the game system and everything do you think?

  11. Re: Ticked off!

I think wii fit is totally worth it. There is strength training, cardio exercises and yoga. I bought the wii first....and it came with wii sports....the boxing would make me sweat buckets. Then it had fun games like bowling and golf. Then I went through Amazon.ca (because the balance board seems to be sold out everywhere in my area) and got the wii fit plus and balance board bundle - that was $99 plus shipping. I was pleasantly surprised. It tells you what your BMI currently is, lets you set weight loss goals...but it measures you in kg. They have an awesome running game on there where you can either set an interval to run for or you can do a free run and run for as long as you like - that one really gets you sweating and you are distracted by all the pretty scenary and watching your character run past people, dogs and the like. It makes running more fun. There are so many different activities on there. My older brother it pretty fit, he's probably only 10 pounds over his goal weight, works shift work but is strong and has lots of endurance. Wiif fit plus makes him sweat buckets and he's pretty addicted to it. I haven't been able to do it as much as I like with a toddler running around and school work, but used it to record my start weight on sureslim, have done a few days of exercises when I actually get a good nights sleep and aren't completely exhausted to even bother. Thee are also light activities on there if you don't want to work yourself too hard. It also keeps track of the calories burned during each activity, and also suggests the food you could eat for the calories you just burned (i just like looking at the calorie counter accumulating on a day when I decide to work myself hard). It kinda makes you feel like your accomplishing something toward your weightloss goal. It's only disappointing when you gain from either not drinking enough water and whatnot. But you can bypass it weighing you everytime you start it up - i only just figured that out. The daily weight thing was getting me discouraged because there are so many ups and downs depending on when you weigh yourself (it also asks you to give an approximate weight of the clothes you are wearing to account for it). For me, once a week weigh in is ok because it keeps me in check.
I am nonly struggling now with my water intake. I have been trying to do 3L but am having too hard of a time with it. I can barely get the 2L in right now cause I feel so full...blah.

    Re: Ticked off!

I find the water to be ok, as long as I pack a water jugg around everywhere. I try to have 2 glasses worth of water with every meal, and then at least one or two in between each meal. Its just a matter of getting used to it I think. For the first two weeks I was peeing so much I figured I may as well spend the day in the bathroom because Ill have to pee again in 5 minutes LOL That went away thankfully!!! Now I am seriously struggling with the seeds, and with getting variety in my meals, these are seeming to be my biggest obstacles. I think I will go and buy a magic bullet this weekend and make yogurt smoothies for breakfast and put all my seeds and flax into it... hopefully that will make it easier and maybe every now and then substitute my seeds for a little bit of avocado. I guess one of the big challenges of this program is getting into a proper routine where you dont miss any of the rules!! Its soo hard!! How do you find the seeds?

I haven't had any issues with the seeds....I quite like them actually. I think they are stopping me from feeling hungry all the time, along with the protein. I haven't really been into dairy for a long time, so smoothies don't appeal to me... but I sure do miss my xlarge double double coffees from Tim Horton's

LOL yep, thats how I felt.. I forced myself to like it somehow! I needed that damn caffiene as I felt a little deflated. I work in a plus sized store and a girl came in who has lost 75 lbs in about 4 or 5 months I think she said, that was so inspiring, I could have talked to her for hours!! Renewed my excitment for this program On monday or tuesday I will have my one month weigh in, I am very excited, and tonite I am having my first cheat meal!! Chinese food here I come

I know how you feel...but I've tried to do it the last few days and just end up dumping some 3% milk into it...lol. My first cheat meal I am having on Sunday since that's when we are doing our family's Easter dinner.....I don't think I will stray too much but it would be nice to eat some stuffing and cranberry sauce with roast chicken.....and maybe a quarter of a potato lol....I think I'll just end up savouring a couple bites of each and filling up on veggies
